I just love the way that this project is taking shape!  Once the siding is refinished on the existing home, I doubt that you will be able to tell the new work from the old.

1st Northcape Client Appreciation Wine Tasting!

On Friday, June 14th, Northcape Design/Build held it’s first Client Appreciation wine tasting event at our office in Sunapee.  About 20 of our wonderful past, current and future clients attended and sampled some great wine that is not readily available in our NH Liquor Stores.

 

Abby Anderson from the Perfecta Wine Company selected the following French wine for us:

 

  • Hospice Corton Grand Cru Burgundy
  • Hospice Pouilly Fuisse Burgundy
  • Hiedsieck Gold Top Champagne 2005
  • Malartic-Lagraviere White Bordeaux 2007
  • Giscours Red Bordeaux 2007

From the comments that I overheard, I believe that the two favorites were the Giscours Red Bordeaux and the Malartic-Lagraviere White Bordeaux, but not all agreed with this!

Everyone did agree that Robin’s hors oeuvres were scrumptious!

Wine, soft jazz, great food and wonderful friends!  It doesn’t get any better!! We had such a great time that we are going to have another client appreciation wine tasting on the 2nd of August.  We’ve already picked a “theme” and Abby has selected and ordered the wine for us.  Stay tuned!

Our New High-Efficiency Boiler!

Robin and I finally got rid of our extremely noisy, unreliable and inefficient oil-fired boiler.  Rick Sorger of Sorger’s Professional Heating and Air Conditioning in Newport, NH did an incredible job of removing the boiler, the oil tanks and installing the new system.  He gave us several options for a new boiler, but we choose to go with a very high efficiency Viessmann LP-gas fired boiler.

 

 

 

It has computerized controls and is very easy to reset or adjust.

 

 

 

 

The old boiler gave off so much heat that it felt like entering a sauna when we entered the mechanical room.  Now the room is cool and the wall hung unit is even cool to the touch.

 

 

 

We installed a buried LP gas tank in the yard close to the driveway and it will soon be nicely landscaped and fit into the rest of the gardens. How do you like the fake rock that Robin got to hide the top of the tank?

 

 

 

A huge benefit to me is the removal of the two oil tanks that were located in my workshop.  Now I have much more space to use!

A graduate of Newbury College and a member of the ASID, Pat worked at the Expo Design Center in Boston before managing a design center on Cape Cod for several years.
